Spiced Mocha Mix

I got this recipe from the Southern Living Cookbook.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup instant milk powder
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup powdered nondairy coffee creamer
  • 1/3 cup instant coffee granules
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container. To serve, spoon 3 heaping teaspoons into a mug. Add 1 cup hot milk, stirring until dissolved.

Makes 2 3/4 cups mix.

Smoothies

One thing I love to have in the spring and summer is smoothies! I have a basic recipe I use for most that I make. For every cup of milk, I add 3 Tbs. sugar and then about 1.5 cups of fruit. If I am using fresh fruit I sometimes add some ice-cubes, but I would rather use fresh fruit, then add some frozen fruit for the ice-cube effect. I found some milk the other day that had probiotics in it, so I didn't have to feel so bad that I wasn't using yogurt. This one had a cup of fresh strawberries and 1/2 cup of frozen peaches... It was a really good combo!

Chai

Here are some pictures of the best Chai I ever tasted! Now, when I try to make this Chai myself it never turns out as tasty as when my boyfriend makes it. I have watched him and listened to him and I still cannot make any Chai as tasty. He throws some tea leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, pepper, cloves and sugar into some water, boils it, adds some milk, heats it up, strains it...and then...IT'S SO GOOD! He says he likes to "improvise" each time he makes it, but it's basically the same thing, and always tastes good to me.

Mmmmm....my favorite Chai!!!
